Taking Off The Bird Suit

An international all-women cast in a show format from New Zealand // In English
Friday, October 23rd 2015 // theater ensemble // 8.30 PM

Get ready for this premiere! For the first time ever the festival features an all-women cast, a talented blend of female improvisers from all over the world, in a smart and funny show format.

The title of the show is inspired by the poem Siren Song by Margaret Atwood. It is told from the perspective of one of the sirens from The Odyssey who is tired of “looking picturesque and mythical” and wants to move beyond singing the “boring song”. This show explores roles beyond the maiden, the mother and the crone. With talent, courage and enthusiasm, these amazing women will present touching and hilarious spontaneous theatre. Take off your bird suit and jump right in! Not only for women.

Presented and directed by New Zealand's Christine Brooks, Artistic Director of the 2013 New Zealand Improv Festival.
